People Handling instructor:

The aim of this QQI Level 6 People Handling Instructor course is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to effectively design and deliver people handling training courses in the health and social care context

Course objectives:

On completion of this People Handling Instructor Course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the people handling risk assessment process
  • Describe a range of controls to avoid and reduce the risk of injury associated with people handling
  • Apply the main principles of manual handling to a range of people handling tasks
  • Carry out a range of appropriate people handling techniques to include transferring, supporting, gliding, sliding, rolling, sitting and standing
  • Analyse the learner’s performance of people handling techniques
  • Develop people handling training courses, to include lesson plans
  • Give effective instruction in practical people handling techniques

  • Unit 1 People Handling Risk Assessment
  • Unit 2 People Handling Principles and Techniques
  • Unit 3 Planning and design of People Handling Training courses
  • Unit 4 Delivery of People Handling Training

Entry requirements:

Participants must first complete the QQI Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor course.


Duration of the course: 3 days

Certification: 
On successful completion of this course, learners will receive a QQI Level 6 People Handling Instructor Certificate.

Training Location: Talbot Hotel Stillorgan, 409 Stillorgan Road, Dublin A94 V6K5. The Talbot Hotel is on the N11 and near the M50.

We can also teach in-house at your premises if it is more suitable for you.
